Local legend - "Bully" from the Imperial Hotel

Just a short stroll towards the river you can visit a real Aussie pub, the sort of pub that was around when dogs were allowed inside, working men came for a pint and life was hard.

We are not sure how this old pub has survived but it’s location tucked away near the Mitchell River and the long gone train track may have something to do with it.

"We settled in for the night and the first beer was on the house" Ivan, backpacker from Minsk

"Yeah, Bully is a colourful character, not for the feint hearted" Joan, Yackandandah, Vic

"Amazing old photos of floods on the walls of this grotty old Oz pub" Daniel from Melbourne.

IAN BULL (Bully)

  • Grew up in Bairnsdale from the age of ten days, he tells us
  • Bully knows all the local stories, scandal and gossip around town and will entertain you with his wit and guile
  • Be prepared for an Aussie pub where you can step back in time, relax and enjoy a cold beer
  • Bully’s pub is renowned for the fact that they ONLY clean the carpets after every flood (and they’ve had a few over the years). He says “open the doors and let it go through!!)
